CONNECT focuses on new collections by three American and two British artists: Christopher Kurtz (USA) Julian Watts (USA) Ian Collings (USA) and Julian Stair (UK) and Nic Webb (UK) in conversation.
What connects these artists is a universal love of natural materials - specifically, wood, ceramic and stone - made into extraordinary design and art collections, using traditional and contemporary crafting processes. These signature works share a completely new aspect of each artist’s practice. They have responded intuitively to a posed question that asked; how do artists communicate their stories through the crafted process of making in design today?
Storytelling is likewise fundamental to the Gallery’s own ethos, which celebrates crafted innovation in collectible design. The resulting works at FOG thus encapsulate not only how these artists have communicated together so eloquently but more specifically how they project a universal message; a beautiful collective synergy that speaks of integrity, harmony and beauty through creative exploration and extraordinary craftsmanship that celebrates the human spirit in relation to the natural world.
This messaging transcends the ever present discordant chatter, so at odds with the essence of who we are, and considers such simple truths, so richly revealed in this presentation.
