Description
Nic Webb's new Kin Kumo pendants explore the interplay of surface. Hewn from English oak, their charred exteriors bear the marks of hand-carving and scorching, a dialogue between resistance and transformation. In contrast—and for the first time in his practice—their interiors have been gilded with 23-carat gold, revealing a luminous patina that enlivens the internal fissures of the oak. Webb’s approach is both instinctive and exacting, working with the wood’s natural striations and densities to shape forms that hold a quiet yet powerful presence.
