Full Grown at Garden Futures: Designing with Nature, Nieuwe Instituut
Nieuwe Instituut, November 15, 2024
The Beatrix Chair, now part of the Nieuwe Instituut's Garden Futures exhibition, is a one-of-a-kind piece grown from ash—our first and most promising species. Named after Beatrix Potter, it reflects her legacy of conservation and storytelling. Harvested in 2018, this rare chair is a testament to the challenges and beauty of collaborating with Nature, balancing the needs of the tree, the ecosystem, and design. With ash dieback threatening many of our trees, this chair remains one of only three ash pieces ever completed, making it a truly unique and irreplaceable work of art.
