Description

The Wavelet series began with an investigation into the profile edge of furniture. Decorative traditions have long developed a vocabulary of endings: Roundovers, beads, chamfers, bullnoses, and ogees—but I became interested in what might exist within, or inside of these familiar, yet underexplored forms. Kurtz imagined cutting through the edge of an object and opening it, like a specimen, to reveal an interior world hidden inside. Because we tend to think of the edge as the boundary of an object. What if the edge has depth? What if the edge is a place?
