Design Miami/ Paris: Art Fair

This forested gathering, defined by organic form and material, features new works of sculptural cabinetry from Marlène Huissoud and Christopher Kurtz. From Marlène we will show two pieces, one using her signature biomaterial; thousands of individual silkworm cocoons, varnished with a thin layer of a dark natural honeybee bio resin, and the other a lost wax casting of her cocoon’s structure in Bronze. Her forms are charmingly ambiguous; playful shapes and variegated surfaces push the limits of functionality and highlight the possibilities for experimental design in society.  Christopher demonstrates his mastery of wood crafting with his contemporary reworking of the linenfold concept. 

Our furniture will be accompanied by the petrified beasts and bough sculptures of Aneta Regel. Her ceramic work expresses themes of memory and the passage of time, displacement, nostalgia for a family home and her childhood landscapes populated by the creatures of Polish folklore. We will also present two pieces from Loewe Foundation Craft Prize winner Ernst Gamperl, delicate, warped vessels of green-turned Horse Chestnut and Maple.
