I am a great believer that contemporary creative objects should be an expression of their time - technically, formally and in meaning and emotion. These pots are part of a series of urns made during the current time of world wide viral pandemic. My way of working is to use computer code to draw the form of my objects and then to craft these ideas using self developed studio based computer guided coil building techniques. The form and surface texture of these ceramics are derived from a viral or self replicating algorithm. There is an r number and the higher this number, the more the pattern spreads and affects the surface of the pot. Within all my work there is a desire to remove my artistic ego and through the creative processes I use, to express how closely we are part of our environment and the natural systems that make up our world. My aim in collaborating with the fundamentals of material and process, in the arts and sciences, is to offer a more holistic approach to humanity's desire to find meaning.
