Description
The Wavelet series began with an investigation into the profile edge of furniture. Decorative traditions have long developed a vocabulary of endings: Roundovers, beads, chamfers, bullnoses, and ogees—but I became interested in what might exist within, or inside of these familiar, yet underexplored forms. Kurtz imagined cutting through the edge of an object and opening it, like a specimen, to reveal an interior world hidden inside. Because we tend to think of the edge as the boundary of an object.
