Description
Shore Road in made from discarded shingles I salvaged from the renovation of a barn on the East Coast of the US. I shipped them back to my workshop and skinned them, retaining the exposed surface of the tile. For the last 80 years these tiles have faced the Atlantic ocean and the extremes of weather characteristic of the weather in Maine. The colours and textures in the final work are an unadulterated display of how timber records and responds to its environment.428
